Daisy 05/28/2009- 07/28/2023

Daisy is Laura's very first agility dog. Daisy and Laura competed together in the ring for 9 years. In that time, Daisy set many records for a Beagle in the agility ring. She is the first and only Beagle to achieve a record 26 Master Agility Championships in AKC. Daisy was the 1st Beagle (and the first dog in Texas!) to earn the prestigious Agility Grand Championship. She was the AKC #1 Agility Beagle in the USA for 6 years in a row from 2013-2018. She competed at the AKC Agility Invitational every year from 2013-2019, where she made Finals in 2015. She attended the AKC National Agility Championships from 2013-2019, traveling all over the country. Unfortunately, in December 2019, at the AKC Agility Invitational, Daisy blew out one of her knees and tore her meniscus in half, thus ending her career. Laura misses her incredible teammate in the ring, but Daisy is now enjoying her retirement, happily chasing critters back home, and reigning as the Grande Dame of the pack. * Daisy passed away shortly after her 14th birthday. Her sweet white face is missed everyday!!

Roubaix 05/01/2013 13.75” tall

From very early on, Laura knew in her heart he was going to be special! Over the years, Roubaix has shown exactly what a Beagle can do in the agility ring. He is the 2nd Beagle to earn the prestigious AKC Agility Grand Championship. He has been a Finalist at the AKC National Agility Championships, and twice at the AKC Agility Invitational, where he finished 2nd in 2016 and 5th in 2017. He has earned his Breed Grand Championship, a Best in Specialty win, numerous Best of Variety wins, and a Hound Group 1 and Group 4! He finished 2017 in the Top 20 15” Beagles with very limited showing. 2019 saw him as the AKC #1 Agility Beagle in the USA. Laura is truly blessed and thankful to share the ring with this once in a lifetime partner! Whoever said Beagles don't make good agility dogs clearly never met Roubaix!

Sally 04/15/2016 13.25” tall

Over the years, Sally has grown into a seasoned member of the Hiatt squad. She has 13 Master Agility Championships to her name. In November 2019, she earned the AKC Agility Grand Championship, making her the 3rd Beagle in the country to earn this prestigious title, behind fellow pack mates Daisy and Roubaix. She has been to the AKC Agility Invitational and the AKC National Agility Championships several times. Sally has also been successful in the breed ring, with multiple Best of Variety wins (including a 15” BOV Specialty win) and appearances in the Group ring. Her next adventure lies in the whelping box, as Laura hopes she and Roubaix can produce the next generation of agility superstars!

Martin 04/20/2020 14.0” tall

Martin is a Mini Me of his father, Roubaix, in a red and white body! He was bred in conjunction with Carrie Davis of Talbot Hill Beagles in Seattle, WA. Laura will show him in both the breed ring and the agility ring . He is already showing great promise in conformation, having won the 13” Best of Variety in the 4-6 month Puppy class at the National Beagle Club Specialty show in 2020. And the apple didn’t fall from the tree in his performance training. His athleticism and work ethic are a carbon copy of his father. Laura looks forward to developing this promising young boy in all areas, and eventually adding him to the breeding program in the future!

Bayou Oaks Truffle

Luci 04/14/2020 @13.50” tall (no official measurement)

Luci came to Laura from Carrie Davis (Talbot Hill Beagles), in the completion of the final breeding wishes of Carrie’s best friend and one of Laura’s early mentors, the late Alyce Gilmore of Bayou Oaks Beagles. Laura got Daisy from Alyce and Carrie back in 2009, and the friendship that formed over that little hound ultimately led Laura to pursuing her dreams of Matador Beagles. Luci and Daisy share the same sire, BIS Bayou Oaks English Leather, and Laura very much wanted to incorporate these old bloodlines back into her fledgling breeding program. In co-ownership with Carrie, Luci will hopefully help in that pursuit. Luci will be shown in the breed ring by Laura, where she already has a Best of Opposite Sex win for a 4 point major (at her very first show at 6 months old). She will also be following in sister Daisy’s footsteps into the agility ring. If her quickness and enthusiasm are any indication of things to come, this little girl will be making a big splash in agility!

Lily 12/22/2010 - 10/29/2019

We lost Lily very unexpectedly during surgery to remove a fibrosarcoma in her neck in October of 2019. She wasn’t quite 9 years old. Through the years, Lily overcame a lot of obstacles to remain able to compete in the agility ring. She had 2 successful surgeries over the years to repair both torn ACLs in her hind legs. She competed for many years at her regular jump height after those surgeries. Laura eventually moved her down to the Preferred classes, and Lily continued to enjoy the game at a lower jump height.  Lily attended multiple AKC National Agility Championships, and also multiple AKC Agility Invitationals in Orlando, FL. She was the #1 Preferred Agility Beagle for 3 years in a row.  This little hound with a heart of gold never ceased to amaze Laura with her enthusiasm on the start line every single time they lined up. Every run with Lily was a gift! We miss the Putt so very much!

Charlotte 10/16/2017 19” tall

Charlotte came to us from Lori and Melinda Pope (Tamataji Ranch Border Collies) of Hearne, TX. She is currently competing at the Masters level in AKC agility. She is also learning the ways of sheep herding with Brian when she isn’t in the agility ring with Laura. She loves to help us with chores around the property. Her sweet temperament and rock solid work ethic make her a joy to train.
